We haven't blogged for a while, so I thought that I would just post an update of some of our happenings over the last month or so.

"The Boss"
We took a brief weekend trip to Southern California to see Bruce Springsteen in concert. The concert was fun (okay, this was my most expensive nap), but we had a better time hanging out with our families. We had brunch with Chris's Dad and step-family at Patrick's Road House in Pacific Palisades. This awesome diner has become a traditional meeting place for his family. Their coconut and banana cream pies are legendary.

Here we are enjoying the (windy) beach:

Chris's Job
Chris finished up a crazy semester. He taught five classes and co-organized a conference at UVU called "Animals and the Law." It was a big success: full of great speakers and very well attended.

He is also busy preparing for our trip to the Logica Conference in Czech Republic next month. I am super proud of him. We fly to Prague on June 16. Did I mention that we will be staying in an ancient monastery?

Our House
A few weeks ago some former BYU film students asked us if they could shoot part of a movie in front of our house. We agreed, not realizing the size of this project. We got home from Salt Lake around midnight to find a huge film set (and crew) in our front yard, complete with three giant spotlights and a generator running in the back! They filmed from 6pm to 6am (I wore my ear plugs and eye covers). We consider this to be yet another compliment for our house!

The film is called "WWJD". Here is the Lord himself, asleep in a car:

The Yard
We have been doing a ton of back yard work. Last summer we cut down three large trees and put up fences around our yard. As of last weekend we finally got most of it cleaned up and were able to till the land and begin to plant the garden.

This is what the backyard looked like at the beginning of last summer:

This is what it looked like at the beginning of this summer. Notice the large trees are gone but the backyard looks like it has been hit by a tornado.

Our backyard was such a disaster that we had to cut a hole in the wood pile to plant an apricot tree.

After cleaning up the wood pile and tilling the ground we now have a large space for our garden.

Chris is preparing the beds for planting.

Our new cat Idaho (yes, we have a new cat) loves to run through our garden paths. She is a crazy kitty.

ME
I continue to get bigger but am feeling really well. So far I feel like this pregnancy has been pretty easy. It is fun to feel her kick and move about. For those of you who don't know, I am due August 2nd.
